Winding down for the holidays....

We hit the ground running with school early August with many hopes that when we arrived at this point in the year; we could just relax and enjoy the season. Turns out that we needed the cushion because everyone was going to be sick. Worked out anyway right.Ha! I could use a laugh right about now.

Something I'm learning this school year is to
place my trust in God and remember that He is God alone
No matter what it looks like, God is still God!!! And He is so good. He knows exactly where we are and where we are going.
A little side note for me: God will get me there :)
I don't have to worry about it. Which is something for me because I like to fit all the pieces together or at least see them coming together before I leap.

We decided not to do extra-curricular activities aside from swim and gym for Indya; and Isaiah will do basketball in the winter. We will begin both in January. I think we will re-evaluate this decision for next year. We are still using all Abeka book curriculum with Easy Grammer to help when needed. The reading program has done it again for me. My sweet 6 year old is reading amazingly well. I have used it with three of my children now and it has been great. They all have different learning styles. This curriculum has worked so well for us. I keep thinking....I should at least look around but I always fall back to this one. It's just plain good for us ;) I will be sending in grades for the mid-term and putting away the books. Ahhh...this is just awesome.

A very moving song.....

This song brought tears to my eyes. It definitely calls you to ponder how you walk through this life. God is so good...oh, Lord that we have eyes to see it and ears to hear!

"His mother kept all these things in her heart." Luke 2:51b

Desiring gentleness.....

"Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight." 1 Peter 3:4

As a mother, I long for a gentle and quiet spirit. To be quick to listen and slow to speak. So much of the time  I find myself reacting to my little ones instead of giving a gentle response. I want them to know how precious they are to the Lord and how special they are to me.

Does my actions, words and attitude paint them a picture of how much God loves them?
When I allow my focus to be on the many cares of this life; I find myself a little more snappish and short. Rather, the Lord desires and is greatly moved by a woman with a gentle spirit. I think it is a direct reflection of HIM. A very loving God.

Let us begin to be very aware that God is with us and desires to pour on us a gentleness of spirit and character. And for this very trait to be passed on to our children, whom we desire to train up in the admonition of the Lord. Believe me, they are much more receptive this way.

"The Lord's servant must not quarrel, but must be gentle to everyone, able to teach, and patient, instructing his opponents with gentleness. Perhaps God will grant them repentance leading them to the knowledge of the truth." 2 Timothy 2:24-25

A Sweet Treat...

My family has enjoyed this delightful treat :) It is super easy to make and taste delightful. Now, I love chocolate chip cookies so that could play a big role in why I like this treat so much.

I found the recipe here:

Loving motherhood...

This school year has brought a lot different emotions but one that has remained the same is being in awe of the Lord by watching my little ones. How He has blessed our home.

Prayerfully seeking God...

Wow...I can't believe it has been this long since I have posted here. Time simply continues to press on no matter what we say about it, right :)
There has been so many things weighing heavily on my heart lately...I have to say I am just prayerfully seeking the Father for direction. No matter what.... I have decided to dive into the things of God and take every necessary step that He calls me to. This pushes me out of my box.
Have you ever felt like you just want/need to draw close to HIM?
There is a point that goes beyond just a day to day seeking; it's a desperation for more of HIM!

"Let me experience Your faithful love in the morning, for I trust in You. Reveal to me the way I should go because I long for You." Psalm 143:8

God has been so faithful to me. I can't begin to express the magnitude. Yet there is a longing in my spirit for more. Another verse that has been ringing in my spirit is this:
"Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn." Psalm 57:8

I don't fully know where He is leading me on this journey but I know He is with me on it. In the days to come I will be in continual prayer. I ask you to come along with me? On this journey of prayer; a deeper longing for more of Him?
